THE RIDEAU CANAL CELEBRATES IT'S 175 ANNIVERSARY

As Ottawa is celebrating 150 years of being the capital, The Rideau Canal is celebrating 175 years. Many activities are being planned throughout the year. The canal is 202 kilometres long. Ottawan's tend to think of it as the longest skating rink in the world, but many town's and village's use it as it was originally built as a waterway linking Kingston to Ottawa. A local company in Ottawa, Podcast Producer, has come up with a unique way to celebrate the canal by doing a weekly podcast. The show is called The Route Canal. They can be heard live at http://routecanal.libsyn.com/ . The blog Ottawa at 150 will be featured in the second week podcast with host John Mckay. You can reach him at www.podcastproducer.ca for any stories about the Rideau Canal you would like to share.
