HEALEY INDIE ENABLED - NETWORKING FOR INDEPENDENT MUSICIANS

On March 1, Healey Disk TMS brought together a panel of experts in various fields along with local "indie artists". The idea was to talk about the recording industry and to listen to the panelists to help the artists with information on how to get themselves recorded, marketed and meet up with others in the business to network. This was believed to be the first time an event happened in Ottawa like this and the hope is to make it an annual event. The panelist included Stephen Bleeker from CD Warehouse/Mymusic.com, Lynn Saxberg, Music Critic for the Ottawa Citizen, Ken Friesen, who is a Producer/Engineer and Jon Bartlett who is a local musician and owner of Kelp Records. The event was moderated by Healey's Kirk Ellard and held at the Foundation Restaurant in the Byword Market.
