OTTAWA FLOTILLA 2007





















The newly named Ottawa Flotilla which always seems to be the official start of the boating season on the Rideau Canal, took place on May 20. It continued this year even though it is no longer a part of the Tulip Festival.

PARADE OF LIGHTS AT DOW'S LAKE












On May 19 the Annual Parade of Lights and Fireworks were held again at Dow's Lake. This year with the changes at the Tulip Festival, it was held as a separate event. With the Rideau Canal celebrating it's 175th Anniversary all the boats were decorated with a Rideau 175 theme. http://www.rideau175.org , http://www.ottawaflotilla.blogspot.com


GLOBAL MARIJUANA MARCH









On May 5 here in Ottawa and approximately 250 other cities, a protest march took place to take a stand on the laws regarding the use of marijuana. The marchers started at the park by Bronson and Sparks Sts., went through the Sparks St. Mall where they all "lit up" and then carried on by the Parliament Buildings and on to Major's Hill Park. http://www.globalmarijuanamarch.com/
