THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES

When the President of the United States comes to visit, it is a massive operation. Pictured above is Marine 1 and along with a plane that looks identical to Airforce 1 and 4 other helicopters they arrive long before the President. Marine 1 will carry George Bush to Chateau Montebello for the North American Summit which takes place for a little over 24 hours starting Aug 20, 2007.
The Governor General's Foot Guards are here to welcome the President.

Their Excellencies The Governor General Michaëlle Jean and husband Jean-Daniel Lafond officially greet George Bush along with other dignitaries and U.S. Ambassador to Canada David Wilkins.

After a brief reception and 52 minutes from the time he landed he says goodbye to the Governor General and heads off the Summit.


On the following day August 21, Ottawa Mayor Larry O'Brien along with Officer Gibbons give the thumbs up to those pesky photographers.

Ready for take off and at 2:26 PM the visit is over.
I felt very fortunate to get accredited to be able to photograph the arrival and departure of the Presidential visit. Much thanks goes out to Mr. John Waterfield who is the Manager of the Parliamentary Press Office. This visit is John's last official duty and the following day he retired and moved to British Columbia.





THE PRINCE COMES TO VISIT

As part of his official duties, Prince Edward stops by Rideau Hall to visist with their Excellencies, The Governor General Michaëlle Jean and Jean-Daniel Lafond.

A cake celebrating the 150th Anniversary of Ottawa being named the Capital of Canada.

Price Edward, along with NCC Chief Executive Officer Micheline Dubé and NCC Chair Russell Mills unveil a plaque commenerating the Prince's Great Great Grandmother Queen Victoria's choice of Ottawa to be the Capital of Canada.
J. Knudson performs the song 1857 Theme song Un Amour, Une Histoire, which he wrote to celebrate the 150th Anniversary of Ottawa being named the Capital of Canada.

A CALL TO VOTE

A call to vote. With the new elections being held every four years, Ontarians will go to the polls on October 10.

The Conservative Leader John Tory with wife Barbara Hackett come to Ottawa to give the final rally to the troops a week before voting day.

Conservative candidate Mike Patten does a little old fashion meet the drive home traffic as he stands across from the Dairy Queen at Merivale and Clyde on election day. Mike lost to incumbent Liberal Jim Watson.

At the Chateau Laurier Hotel Dalton McGuinty looks happy and confident as the numbers show he is on the way to a second majority in the Province of Ontario.
Premier elect McGuinty talks to the media shortly after being declared the winner in the 2007 Ontario Provincial Elections.
The numbers don't lie. Premier McGuinty looks very ready to pilot the course of Ontario for the next four years.
